Description:
The Cornville Staff Intensive Program for Spurwink Services seeks a full-time Special Education Teacher for an elementary school classroom. Students at the school have a wide range of severe emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. The successful candidate will be able to provide differentiated instruction to a diverse population over the regular school year as well as in a 28 day summer program. An ability to set clear limits, develop a therapeutic relationship and provide a high level of structure, consistency and support is required.
Duties:
Among the duties expected of Spurwink Special Education Teachers are planning and delivering instruction, writing and implementing Individual Education Plans, providing behavior management aligned with an integrated therapeutic model, creating and maintaining a classroom culture that supports the therapeutic model, and supervising Educational Technicians assigned to their classrooms.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have Maine State certification as Teacher of Exceptional Students (282) or be eligible for 282 certification. A letter of eligibility for 282 certification is required if less than professionally/provisionally certified.
